All textbook requests must be EITHER submitted online by the instructor using the Adoption and Insights Portal (AIP) OR be emailed directly from the instructor to the Cal Student Store at text@berkeley.edu with the course number (including the 5 digit section number) and the ISBN and titles of any texts you are expecting to use.
Please be sure you have the following information for your texts: title, author, ISBN (this is critical), copyright date, edition, publisher, and any special ordering instructions if a text comes from an unusual source or must be ordered from a specific distributor. When sending an order via email, you must remember to provide your name and the semester for which you are ordering, as well as the course number and any applicable section(s).
Note: You are not required to order textbooks from the bookstore, but it is recommended that you at least provide them a list of books. Instructors are asked to submit book orders to the Student Store even in cases where they place orders with independent bookstores so they can be listed in the course catalog. Providing book lists to the Student Store, regardless of where books are ordered, also makes it possible for the store to buy back books at the end of the semester and offer them at a discount in the future. The affordability deadline for Fall textbook orders is Monday, April 20, 2026, but you can still request texts for your course after that date.
If you require desk copies, you must request those directly from the publisher(s). At this time, desk copies are not ordered through the bookstore. The information is usually readily available on a publisher's website, but if not, information can be obtained by contacting the appropriate customer service representative.
