Hungarian 100: Hungarian Readings

Satisfies the L&S International Studies Breadth requirement.

This course will explore some fascinating aspects of Hungarian culture including elements of literature, film, and folklore.

Readings will reflect the students’ individual needs, goals, and interests.

The course is aimed primarily at students who would like to improve their Hungarian language skills by working with Hungarian texts.

Students without Hungarian language background who are interested in working with English translations of original Hungarian materials should contact the instructor before registering for the course.

Class participation, assigned works, and the final project on a topic of students’ interests will provide the basis for grading.

The instructor will provide teaching materials: handouts, video and voice files, Hungarian texts in original and translation, and Internet resources.

Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Hungarian language or consent of instructor.
