I was born and grew up in Aleppo, Syria, in an Armenian family and attended Armenian schools. I graduated from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, and did graduate work at State University of New York at Stony Brook, Cleveland State University and Californian State University East Bay. I’ve taught English Language Development and English as a Second Language for over 20 years. I’ve been teaching Armenian Language at UC Berkeley since fall 2005.
